“Financial toxicity describes problems a cancer patient has related to the cost of treatment.”
A number of studies show that cancer patients and survivors are more likely to have financial toxicity than are people without cancer. Cancer is one of the most expensive medical conditions to treat in the United States. Cancer patients with health insurance are paying higher premiums than in the past. They are also paying more for copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance.
“Our goal is help ease the financial burden for families in and around the Delaware Valley.”
Rockin For The Cure©, our yearly Rock and Roll Extravaganza Fundraiser, gives us the opportunity to really give back. We began in 2014 with the idea of hosting a reunion for two very popular Night clubs, which no longer exist; however, long term friendships were built between the staff and customers. With the proper team and some quick action, the “reunion” was turned into Rockin For The Cure and it was sold out months in advance.
Since our very quick beginning, Rockin For The Cure© has grown into a brand that’s known around the county and beyond. We’ve become an official 501- c (3) non- profit organization that has helped countless people throughout the Delaware Valley. Our big fundraiser has grown to be the largest and most anticipated event in Northeast Philadelphia each year. Our small teams of organizers spend the entire year, putting the event together, always making the event not only a memorable one for the 1500-2000 attendees, but doubling the funds raised each year, in fact, last year Rockin For The Cure raised $30,000 in one day! “This year our goal is to raise at least $60,000 which is twice the amount from last year.”
This year’s event Co-Hosts are Bob Kelly of Fox29 and Marilyn Russell of The Breakfast Club WOGL 98.1. Both Bob and Marilyn bring their own unique type of energy to the show that will surely make for a great time for all. The event will be filled with great performers like Tommy Conwell, Johnny O, from the Classic Dogs of Love, fame, The Heartbeats, and this year, The Soul Survivors, along with other greats.
This year Rockin For The Cure has partnered with Bringing Hope Home a fantastic organization. Bringing Hope Home is a non-profit organization that provides Unexpected Amazingness to local Families with cancer through financial and emotional support. Through their Light of Hope Family Grant, they offer a one-time grant to pay essential household bills for Families with cancer. All proceeds from this year’s event will go directly to Bringing Hope Home. Since their inception in 2008, they have supported over 4,517 local Families with over $5.5 million dollars in assistance. Truly Amazing!
We want the Delaware Valley to know about Rockin For The Cure, and have an opportunity to attend, have a great time, all while giving back and making a difference for families throughout Delaware Valley.
